Warranty Policy

Last updated: 01/09/2026

This Warranty Policy applies to purchases made through https://primebyte.co.za and forms part of our Terms & Conditions and Returns & Refunds Policy.

1. Manufacturer & Supplier Warranties

Products sold by PrimeByte Solutions (PTY) Ltd carry the warranty provided by the original manufacturer or supplier. We do not offer any additional in-house warranty beyond what the manufacturer or supplier provides — our role is to facilitate your warranty claim on your behalf.

Warranty periods vary by product and manufacturer. Where available, the applicable warranty period is stated on the product page. If no period is stated, please contact us before purchasing to confirm, or refer to the manufacturer’s own documentation/website.

2. Statutory Warranty (Consumers)

In addition to any manufacturer warranty, consumers are entitled to statutory protections under Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”), including the right to return goods that are defective or do not perform as expected within 6 (six) months of delivery, for repair, replacement, or refund at no charge. See our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details. This statutory right exists independently of, and in addition to, the manufacturer’s warranty described above.

Business customers should refer to Section 4 of our Returns & Refunds Policy, as CPA consumer protections may not apply in the same way to business purchases.

3. How Warranty Claims Work

If a product develops a fault within its warranty period:

  1. Contact us at support@primebyte.co.za with your order number, a description of the fault, and photos/video where relevant
  2. We will assess whether the issue is likely covered under warranty
  3. If approved, you will return the item to us (see Section 5 for shipping cost responsibility)
  4. We will submit the item to the relevant manufacturer or supplier  for assessment and process the claim (RMA) on your behalf
  5. Once the manufacturer/supplier processes the claim, we will arrange a repair, replacement, or refund for you, consistent with their outcome and your statutory rights

Please note that warranty claim turnaround times depend on the manufacturer/supplier’s own RMA process and are outside our direct control, though we will keep you updated on progress.

4. What’s Covered

Warranty generally covers manufacturing defects and hardware/component failures occurring under normal use, as determined by the manufacturer’s warranty terms.

5. What’s Not Covered

Warranty typically does not cover:

  • Physical damage, liquid damage, or damage from misuse, accident, or unauthorised repair/modification
  • Normal wear and tear, or consumable components (e.g. batteries, bulbs) beyond the manufacturer’s specified consumable warranty period, if any
  • Damage caused by incorrect installation, incompatible use, or failure to follow manufacturer instructions
  • Software issues not related to a hardware defect
  • Items with removed, altered, or illegible serial numbers/labels

Exact exclusions depend on the specific manufacturer’s warranty terms, which take precedence over the general guidance above.

6. Shipping Costs for Warranty Claims

  • If a claim is approved as a valid warranty defect, we will cover reasonable return shipping costs for sending the item to us.
  • If an item is returned under warranty and found not to be a valid manufacturer defect (e.g. damage from misuse), you may be responsible for return shipping costs back to you, and the item will not be repaired/replaced/refunded under this policy.
