Returns & Refunds Policy

This Returns & Refunds Policy applies to purchases made through https://primebyte.co.za and forms part of our Terms & Conditions. It is intended to comply with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”) for consumer purchases, with different terms applying to business customers as noted below.

1. Change-of-Mind Returns (Consumers)

If you are a consumer and purchased online (a “distance sale”), you have the right under ECTA to cancel your order and return goods within 7 (seven) calendar days of receiving them, without needing to give a reason.

To qualify for a change-of-mind return:

The item must be returned in its original, unused condition, with all original packaging, accessories, manuals, and seals intact
Software products with opened/activated licenses, and any item where the seal or packaging indicates use, cannot be returned under change-of-mind (see Section 5)
You must notify us at support@primebyte.co.za within the 7-day period to initiate the return

Costs:

You are responsible for the cost of returning the item to us.
A 5% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund for change-of-mind returns.
Original delivery charges (if any were charged) are non-refundable for change-of-mind returns.

Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will process your refund within 7 business days via your original payment method.

2. Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If an item arrives defective, damaged in transit, or is not what you ordered, please contact us at support@primebyte.co.za within 7 days with your order number and photos of the issue where applicable.

For these returns:

We cover the cost of return shipping.
No restocking fee applies.
You may choose a replacement, repair, or full refund, subject to the nature of the fault and product availability.

3. Statutory Warranty (Consumers)

Under Section 56 of the CPA, consumers are entitled to return goods that are defective or do not perform as expected within 6 (six) months of delivery, for a repair, replacement, or refund at the consumer’s choice — at no charge to the consumer. This is separate from, and in addition to, any manufacturer’s warranty. See our Warranty Policy for full details on how manufacturer and statutory warranties apply to specific product categories.

4. Business Customers

Where you are purchasing as a business (juristic person) or for resale/business purposes, the CPA’s consumer-specific return rights described in Sections 1 and 3 do not automatically apply. Returns for business customers will be handled on a case-by-case basis in line with the specific terms agreed at the time of purchase, or otherwise at our discretion. Please contact us before placing a business order if you require clarity on return terms.

5. Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned for change-of-mind, except where defective or as required by law:

Software with an activated/redeemed license key or digital product delivered electronically
Items marked as final sale, clearance, or open-box at time of purchase
Consumables or items that have been installed/used (e.g. cabling that has been cut to length, opened consumable electrical items)

6. How to Request a Return

Email support@primebyte.co.za with your order number, the item(s) you wish to return, and the reason (change of mind or fault)
We will confirm whether the item qualifies and provide return instructions
Package the item securely (original packaging where possible) and return it as instructed
Once received and inspected, we will process your refund or replacement

7. Refund Method & Timing

Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method:

EFT payments — refunded via bank transfer to the account used for payment
Card/gateway payments (once live) — refunded via the original payment gateway

Refunds are typically processed within 7 business days of us receiving and approving the returned item.
